The Sziget Festival

The Sziget Festival is a music festival held in Budapest on the Óbudai-sziget ("island of Óbuda"), an island located in the middle of the Danube.

It takes its name from the Hungarian word sziget which precisely means island and was initially born in 1993 as a review for local groups to then increase and improve the artistic cast year after year. To date, it is one of the most popular festivals in the world, thanks also to its duration which, unlike a normal festival, is one week, the second of August.

Sziget Festival has more than 60 stages and hosts not only live music but also DJ sets, theatrical performances, video screenings, dance, circus performances, street artists and sporting events. It is a unique multimedia event, open to any artistic and musical expression, a meeting point for disparate cultures and trends such as pop, rock, metal, hip hop, blues, reggae, afro, world music, folk, electronics, jazz, classical and any other sound experimentation.
