Jennifer Garner is well aware that some birthdays represent a kind of rite of passage in a person's life. With this awareness, the actress decided in April to celebrate her 50th birthday in a big way. "Basically," she recounted in a recent interview, "I decided to marry myself, and I'm shocked that I'm the only one who has done such a thing".
With her marriage to ex Ben Affleck-now, happily married to Jennifer Lopez-behind her, Garner saw fit to celebrate herself and the goals she has achieved in all these years. Among these is certainly her involvement in philanthropic and charitable activities, and she, in fact, asked her guests to fill as many as 5,000 backpacks with food, enough for a family of four, so that they could be delivered to a number of associations that distribute meals to indigent or homeless people. The entire event then continued with the other similar initiatives, helping the birthday girl in what, alongside acting, has become a fundamental part of her life.
But that is not enough. Since this was a "wedding to herself," things were done on a grand scale. Virtually all members of her very large family living in West Virgina were invited to the celebrations. "My parents, sisters, nieces, nephews, cousins, uncles, all the people I don't get a chance to see assiduously," the actress explained further. Of course, some of her longtime friends such as Reese Witherspoon, Rita Wilson, Maria Shriver and Ina Garten were not missing.
The party continued throughout the day, to the notes of the Osborne Brothers, but also Danny Osmond, her favorite singer as well as her first real birthday present. Friends surprised her with a private concert by Osmond during which she had the opportunity to sing her favorite songs with him.
Thus, a new chapter in Jennifer Garner's life opened with this birthday. A new chapter, but one with established certainties, such as the love of her three children – Violet, Seraphina and Samuel – and the support of her ex Ben Affleck with whom she continues to maintain a very good relationship.
