Fendi Parades in New York: Linda Evangelista, Baguette and The City.

Last night in the Big Apple, amidst super tops on the catwalk and a stellar parterre, a dreamy Fendi show was staged to celebrate 25 years of the Roman fashion house's accessory that spawned the it bag phenomenon. For the wish bag, Linda Evangelista returned to the runway. Moved, happy, beautiful, emotional, human. As only a divine can, despite everything, be.

"I finally moved from home and landed in wonderland." Thus, in a somewhat Carrie Bradshaw style, Sarah Jessica Parker writes on Instagram.

The Wonderland the actress is referring to is the runway show for Fendi's Spring/Summer 2023 pre-collection, a tribute show organized on the first day of Fashion Week in New York to mark the 25th anniversary of the Baguette, the fashion house's fetish bag that has become synonymous with the Sex and The City reporter's closet and style since, when attacked in one episode by a mugger who asked her for her handbag, she piquedly corrected him, "It's a baguette!"

From one icon to another: the accessory to be carried under the arm in the manner of the typical French loaf of bread from which it takes its name, immediately cult since its launch in 1997 and then declined in thousands of variations, has drawn another fashion legend into the limelight: Linda Evangelista. After 15 years, the supermodel returned to the runway at the close of the show amid applause, excitement and a standing ovation.

A sort of Blue Fairy, wrapped in a floor-length heavenly mantle with puffed sleeves, she joined Kim Jones, creative director of Fendi, Marc Jacobs (who collaborated on the collection reinterpreting the baguette in his own way playing on logomania ), Silvia Venturini Fendi and Delfina Delletrez.

She who, in the 1980s and 1990s, was a goddess among goddesses, showed herself again among humans and then rose, light despite everything, into the Eden of style after recounting her descent into the underworld due to the side effects of a coolsculpting procedure she underwent. Having come to terms with a body and face that didn't match her, Linda had decided not to be seen again or leave the house. But then something changed: Kim Jones strongly wanted her on the runway for the celebratory fashion show and starring, first, in the campaign that announced the super top's return last July after years of blacking out.

Applauding and admiring Linda Evangelista, resplendent and visibly moved, and seeing her regain her rightful place in fashion, colleagues from the golden 90s: Kate Moss, Amber Valletta, Shalom Harlow and Christy Turlington

All were at the forefront of the star-studded parterre of celebrities who attended the show: in addition to the aforementioned Sarah Jessica Parker (who also launched her baguette capsule for the occasion, a bag that after all she herself helped make the wannahave that she is), a super sparkling Kim Kardashian, Naomi Watts, Olivia Culpo, Adwoa Aboah and Valentina Ferragni, among others.

There was no shortage of stars on the runway as well, from rising star Lila Moss, who opened the show, to the seasoned Bella Hadid in a Tiffany blue jumpsuit (the famous and exclusive jewelry brand also launched a version of the it bag), from our own Vittoria Ceretti to the fashion system's most in-demand curvy, Precious Lee

So many different women, between front row and catwalk, so many generations, stories and personalities that correspond to the beauty of human variety. Which then is the secret of the long-lasting success of Fendi's baguette (re-proposed now even in belt, pouch, shoulder strap, sock, cuff, sweatshirt pocket and hat detail), able to highlight with style the personality of each of us. A BFF, in short, to be held, tightly.
