Burberry announced this Wednesday, September 28, the appointment of Daniel Lee to head the artistic direction of the house, replacing Riccardo Tisci.
Riccardo Tisci retires, Daniel Lee enters the scene again. The Italian designer announced his resignation at Burberry, this Wednesday, September 28, two days after his last fashion show. "After almost five years, Riccardo Tisci has decided to step down as creative director and leave Burberry at the end of this month. His Spring/Summer 2023 collection, presented this week in London, was his last for Burberry," the brand announced on its Twitter account.
The former creative director spoke for himself. "The chapter I've been asked to write in its [Burberry's] long history is one I'm incredibly proud of and one I've decided will culminate in my show on Monday."
Daniel Lee in the lead
On the same day, the British house unveiled a new arrival: the 36-year-old English designer Daniel Lee. Passed at Celine, Maison Margiela and Balenciaga, the Englishman was especially praised for his creations at Bottega Veneta, for whom he worked from 2018 to 2021. Let's mention his soft clutch named "The Pouch", his Chelsea Boot with thick soles or his quilted pumps. Daniel Lee will design the next Burberry collection, starting in February 2023.
