Angelina Jolie visits the Ukrainian children of the Infant Jesus of Rome

The actress, Special Envoy of the United Nations High Commissioner for Refugees, paid a surprise visit to the young refugees hospitalized in the capital's pediatric hospital. "I pray for an end to this war that children pay the price for," she said.

Angelina Jolie is in Italy and paid a surprise visit to Ukrainian children fleeing the war admitted to the Bambin Gesù Hospital in Rome. She made it known to the hospital itself with an Instagram post.

"I'm praying for the war to end," said the actress. “This is the only way to stop the suffering and escape from the conflict zones. It is horrifying to see children paying the price, in lost lives, damaged health and trauma ”.

UNICEF goodwill ambassador

Angelina Jolie, who was UNICEF goodwill ambassador for over 10 years and today is Special Envoy of the United Nations High Commissioner for Refugees, met the little ones welcomed in our country and the doctors and nurses who are taking care of them, on the very day that UNHCR released data on Ukrainian refugees: more than four million people have already fled the invaded country on February 24, of which nearly two million are children. Figures that make this emergency the crisis with the most exponential growth from the Second World War to today.

A few days earlier, the actress had been seen in Puglia, where she had stayed with her 15-year-old daughter Shiloh Nouvel, in a farm in Salento, after landing in Brindisi on a private jet.
