Rihanna and A$AP Rocky know how to red carpet. Their first appearance as a couple at a Fashion Awards event in 2020, in outfits from Rihanna's (now defunct) Fenty line, already showed their synergy. Together they also wore 'fresh off the catwalk' outfits at Gucci's AW22 show as well as, more recently, sporting matching Rick Owens looks at the premiere of the second chapter of Black Panther. Duetting in the studio is natural for them, but synchronising outfits seems just as easy.
Last night at the Golden Globes showed a similar story, the matching fits of the two musicians singing sweetly to each other. Rihanna, who was poised to grab a Golden Globe with her song Lift Me Up, nominated in the Best Original Song category, wore a look that will go down in history: a custom Schiaparelli evening gown muted in colour, but loud in size, with an oversized cape and a long train.
ASAP Rocky accompanied her in a traditional black tuxedo (a garment he is very tuned in to) with silk lapels, white shirt and thin black tie. Further proof of their complicity? A$AP's diamond earrings, in perfect harmony with Riri's 18-carat white gold Cartier earrings (and diamond chocker).
Other couples also did their thing at the event – Kaia Gerber and Austin Butler, Anya Taylor-Joy and Malcolm McRae -, but Riri and A$AP certainly took home the prize for not skimping on their fits.
