Michael B. Jordan, who played the lead in the first two Creed films, is moving behind the camera for the new film. Jordan goes behind the camera for the new opus of the saga. He talks about this new adventure.

Three years after the last episode of Creed, Michael B. Jordan will soon make his return to the iconic role of Adonis. The actor, revealed in the Rocky spin-off, will not only be the main actor. For this third opus, he is also stepping behind the camera, seven years after he made his debut in the franchise. "I've reached a point in my career where I don't want to just execute someone's vision anymore. I want to tell a story," he said. The transition is never easy, but it has been a familiar one. The actor has been on film sets since he was 12, and has been inspired by the filmmakers he has worked with over the past two decades. "Ryan Coogler (director of the first film) gave me a lot of encouragement. I also got advice from Denzel Washington, with whom I had just finished a shoot".

Creed 3 also represents a turning point for the character played by Michael B. Jordan. In the new film, Adonis has to deal with a ghost from the past played by Jonathan Majors. He also faces a number of challenges with his girlfriend Bianca (Tessa Thompson): "It's a pivotal moment in their lives. They have to manage a career at the top and their personal lives at the same time. What compromises need to be made in a relationship? How do you cope with success together?" All these themes echo the actor's own questions: "A large part of the film is drawn from my personal experiences and those of my family. So I'm concerned that people don't connect with the story". He also put his stamp on key moments in the film: those training scenes that the saga is full of, since the Rocky era. All of this on a soundtrack produced by the hip-hop label Dreamville and the rapper J. Cole. The result will be released in theaters on March 1, 2023.
