After watching Breaking Bad, it's very hard to start watching other films and series, the bar is so raised that every other movie seems like crap. It can take a month before you let go and go back to watching something else with interest. Even when you rewatch this show a second and third time, the effect is the same.
7 series similar to Breaking Bad
"Breaking Bad is widely regarded as one of the best series ever made. And, unlike Game of Thrones, Walter White's story has delighted viewers with a great ending that is worthy of such a great show. We've compiled for you a selection of seven series that are similar to Breaking Bad. It's worth noting that they're no worse filmed than one of the major series hits of the twenty-first century.
Ozark (2017 – …)
A crime-drama series by Bill Dubuque and Mark Williams that was filmed specifically for Netflix. Its plot revolves around a financial advisor named Marty Bird. Until recently, he and his family lived a quiet and happy life in the suburbs of Chicago. But one day he and his wife and children were forced to move to the small resort town of Ozark, because he owes a large sum of money to a mafia boss.
The Sopranos Clan (1999 – 2007).
Like "Breaking Bad", "The Sopranos Clan" is considered one of the best TV series ever made. And it's pretty hard to say which one of these projects is actually better. So if you haven't watched the HBO classic yet, now's the time to rectify that.
Narcos (2015 – 2017).
One of Netflix's highest-rated series, which chronicles the criminal activities of Colombian drug lord Pablo Escobar. The story centres on members of the US Drug Enforcement Administration trying to get to Escobar.
Underground Empire (2010 – 2014)
A great crime-drama series whose events are set in the 1920s in the United States, during the Prohibition era. The story centres on a gangster named Enoch Thompson, who decides to take advantage of the situation to make a fortune.
Dope (2005 – 2012).
One of Showtime's most successful, popular and highly-rated series. It revolves around a woman named Nancy Botwin, who is raising two teenage children and leading a prosperous life. But things take a turn for the worse when she becomes a widow. Now, to make ends meet, she becomes a marijuana dealer.
The Shield (2002 – 2008)
The events of the series unfold in one of the Los Angeles police stations. The story revolves around a corrupt police squad.
Better Call Saul (2015 – …)
Perhaps the most obvious contender to make this list. It's a great spin-off and prequel to Breaking Bad. A great series that is as good as the original show.
Comments
Shield and Ozark are really a drive. Watched the others except Durman, they start to "deflate" at some point. Empire is a failure, the g.r. is totally useless, not for this role for sure, some kind of eunuch lipstick, and in general a lot of things there are not pulled out, although there are interesting lines and great actors … I wish Ozark hadn't dropped the bar… Is there any comparison to The Conjuring? It's a genius series and the only one of its kind.
