Olaplex DIY: Kourtney Kardashian swears by this 3-ingredient hair care blend

Do you want shiny, healthy hair like after an Olaplex treatment? This DIY recipe makes it possible, and it only takes a few minutes to prepare.

DIY olaplex is trending on TikTok — and yes, even Kourtney Kardashian is resorting to one for her hair.

For those who haven't tried it, Olaplex is quite literally the holy grail of hair care. The brand behind the groundbreaking seven-step haircare routine quickly became the treatment that top salons and beauty insiders couldn't live without as soon as it was available, and have been using it non-stop ever since.

Olaplex against damaged hair

Olaplex products are loved by just about everyone for their ability to repair severely damaged, regularly colored hair (welcome news for those of us who bleach or color our hair frequently). Best of all, the products are suitable for all hair types and textures, colored or not, and offer a shiny, strengthening treatment.

Olaplex is a system that permanently rebuilds the damaged disulfide bonds in your hair that were broken during the chemical process. If you've bleached your hair too much or have been highlight-dying it for years, Olaplex can help restore your hair's strength and texture—a "reset" for your mane, if you will.

Olaplex DIY: Kourtney Kardashian only needs 3 ingredients

Kourtney Kardashian is also a fan of Olaplex and has not stopped working on a good alternative – or to be honest, she discovered it on TikTok. The DIY recipe for the “homemade” product caught our interest.

On her wellness website Poosh, Kourtney writes, "Olaplex has a devoted following for its seemingly magical ability to smooth, soften and strengthen damaged hair. But it's not the cheapest product on the market. But don't worry because TikTok shared with us a simple hack to make Olaplex at home.”

“The DIY Olaplex recipe requires just two ingredients: water and flaxseed, which are boiled down into a gel that can then be applied to the hair. Flaxseed is packed with omega fatty acids and vitamin E, both of which are incredibly nourishing. For the poosh touch we added a few drops of 'Inala Power Potion' because it contains rice water – one of our favorite ingredients to strengthen hair and promote hair growth."

And how do you make it? You only need three ingredients:

  • ¼ cup flaxseed
  • 2 ½ cups water
  • Inala Power Potion

All you have to do to whip up the recipe at home is combine the flaxseeds and water in a saucepan, bring the mixture to a boil, stirring frequently, and then when it has reached the consistency of egg white, to pour through a cloth into a container. For an extra Kardashian touch, mix in a few drops of Inala Power Potion.

Apply the mixture to your hair and leave it on for at least ten minutes. You can store the rest in the fridge and use it for up to a week.
