Randy Winn was born in Los Angeles, California in 1974 and attended San Ramon Valley High School in the East Bay San Francisco city of Danville, California. Randy Winn attended college at Santa Clara University where he played both basketball and baseball and was roommates with forthcoming NBA player Steve Nash. Randy Winn was originally selected during college in the 1995 Major League Draft in the 3rd circular, 65th overall by the Florida Marlins. Two years later, he was selected in the 1997 MLB expansion draft by the Tampa Bay Devil Rays. Randy Winn made his MLB debut on May 11, 1998 for the Tampa Bay Devil Rays. Randy Winn has played for five MLB teams. He was with the Tampa Bay Devil Rays from 1998-2002 and represented the team at the 2002 All-Star Game. Randy Winn was with the Seattle Mariners from 2003-2005, the San Francisco Giants from 2005-2000 and was named the National League Player of the Month for September 2005 behind just two months with the team.
