KEVIN SPACEY’S 2023 AGENDA: A SEXUAL ASSAULT TRIAL AND A LIFETIME ACHIEVEMENT AWARD

Kevin Spacey is due to receive a Lifetime Achievement Award in January 2023, five months before his next UK sexual assault trial.

Kevin Spacey, who has been accused by more than 30 men of sexual misconduct, will receive a lifetime achievement award next year, according to Variety. The two-time Oscar winner will receive the Stella Della Mole award at the National Museum of Cinema in Turin, Italy. Before accepting the honour, Kevin Spacey will participate in a public master class with the museum's director, Domenico De Gaetano, and will present a screening of one of his films.

"We are honoured that such a prestigious guest as Kevin Spacey has chosen Turin and an institutional venue such as our museum for this welcome and long-awaited return," said Enzo Ghigo, president of the National Cinema Museum, in a statement. "It is a privilege to host the master class of one of the greatest film and theatre actors of our time."

The event, which goes on sale on 20 December, is scheduled for 16 January 2023. That's five months before the actor's trial in the UK begins on 6 June, where he has pleaded not guilty to four counts of sexual assault against three men and one count of causing a person to engage in penetrative sexual activity without their consent. Last month, Spacey was cleared of liability in a $40 million sexual misconduct lawsuit filed by Anthony Rapp, the first person to publicly accuse him in the fall of 2017.

31 million paid to House of Cards producers

Spacey's disgrace coincided with the launch of the #MeToo movement five years ago. After Rapp's allegations, he was dropped by his agent, fired from his role in Netflix's House of Cards, and cut from Ridley Scott's All the Money in the World . In August, a Los Angeles judge ruled that Spacey and his production companies must pay nearly $31 million to House of Cards producers for violating his contractual performance requirements by sexually harassing cast members, leading to his ouster and financial losses as the show restructured around the Robin Wright character. Spacey appealed the decision and denied allegations that he had sexually harassed members of the House of Cards crew.

Italy has proved to be something of a safe haven for Spacey. According to Variety, the actor visited the National Museum of Italian Cinema while filming his upcoming comeback in Franco Nero's L'uomo Che Disegnò Dio, or The Man Who Drew God. His last public performance was a reading in 2019 of a poem entitled The Boxer by Italian poet Gabriele Tinti in front of the National Museum in Rome.
