Kaia Gerber is the new designer of a capsule collection for Zara.
At just 21, Kaia Gerber has already walked the runway for such prestigious fashion houses as Chanel, Alexander McQueen and Celine. And the daughter of supermodel Cindy Crawford can add another name to the long list of brands she has worked with, but this time at a more affordable price: Zara.
Available now, the 41-piece Kaia x Zara collection is inspired by her own off-duty style. It includes oversized garments, a body-hugging dress, a microscopic miniskirt, sexy crop tops, as well as boots, trainers and accessories.
Taking inspiration from capsule collections, Kaia Gerber said the idea behind the range was to create something that would allow you to have everything you need in a wardrobe: "If you travel and you take a whole collection with you, can it cover all your needs? I think we've done that," she says.
The selection of essential pieces includes lots of denim and leather, in a nod to her American heritage, and a palette of easy-to-wear colours, in keeping with Kaia's desire for inclusivity. "I didn't just think of myself when I designed my clothes," she explains. I thought about my mother, my friends and everyone I see around me. My style comes from a lot of different places and I didn't want to design something that excluded anyone."
It's rare for the street style queen brand to team up with celebrities, and recently released a collection with Narciso Rodriguez.
The Kaia Gerber x Zara collection is already available in shops and on the website.
