Brad Pitt launches a skincare brand, and does not use the word anti-ageing

Beauty has always rhymed with Brad Pitt. And so it is perhaps not surprising that the almost 59-year-old Hollywood star, inspired by his ex Gwyneth Paltrow (and more), has landed in the beauty universe with Le Domaine, a brand of skin cosmetics enriched with the antioxidant properties of grapes. "To age in a healthy way, in the best way possible,' says the actor.

Brad Pitt as Benjamin Button, the man born old who rejuvenates with age, played by the American star in the famous 2008 film. From fiction to reality, or thereabouts.

Since the super star with the timeless charm is ready to bite a slice of the beauty market with his skincare brand Le Domaine, designed, precisely, to slow down the ageing process with the help of the antioxidant properties derived from grapes.

Brad Pitt on ageing

And yes, because Brad combines two of life's great pleasures: wine and skincare. Although he himself, in an interview with Vogue UK, made it clear that he did not want the anti-ageing label for his brand: 'Ageing is a concept that we can't escape and I'd like to see our culture take it into account a bit more. Talking about anti-ageing is ridiculous, it's a fairy tale. But what is real is treating the skin in the best possible way. And that is something I have learnt to do through my work and that makes me feel better. I think we are learning that if we love ourselves, if we treat ourselves a little better, we will benefit in the long run. So the concept is to grow old in a healthy way'.

Brad Pitt's skincare line

The Le Domaine skincare line promises firmer, radiant, more supple and smoother skin and is absolutely genderless. The brand was developed in collaboration with the Perrin family, renowned winegrowers of Château Beaucastel and partners of the actor.

The four products (The Serum, The Cream, The Cleansing Emulsion and The Fluid Cream), all natural, boast a 'light, elegant genderless' scent created by a perfumer from Grasse, with orange blossom, cedarwood and sandalwood. "I'm a big fan of each of them and I use The Cream every day," Brad Pitt says. "I really like the texture because it's creamy, hydrates quickly and makes my skin much softer and ready to face the California sun." Le Domaine is a philosophy that promotes the authenticity and purity of a life well lived and can be summed up in a simple vision: going back to the basics, to Nature and to our own nature. A combination of science and terroir, efficacy and naturalness, in the name of simplicity.

Moreover, the products are all presented in very chic packaging: a glass bottle decorated with a sculptural wooden stopper, to recall the theme of wine and nature.

The actor, who was spotted in Venice as the producer of Blonde, says: 'The older I get, the more I think about the quality of life and the passing of time, and I would certainly like to aim more in this direction. The lockdown made us think, what do we dedicate our lives to? And I think family and friends at the end of the day is all that matters'.

Brad Pitt and beauty debt to exes

Brad Pitt also admitted to having a beauty 'debt' with Gwyneth Paltrow, his historic ex with whom he formed one of the coolest star system couples of all time in the 1990s (how can we not remember their twin haircuts?), now his close friend.

It was precisely the founder of Goop who, in the not too distant past, initiated him into self-care and skin care: 'In fact, come to think of it, she was probably the first one to make me wash my face twice a day,' he told Vogue UK.

Interestingly, Brad Pitt's new project was actually influenced by two of his previous love affairs. Not only Gwyneth: there is also the shadow of Angelina Jolie in the brand, as the formulas of Le Domaine cosmetics are based on grapes grown in the Chateau Miraval vineyards in southern France that he and his ex-wife bought together in 2008.
