Adam Levine is in the headlines again. An Instagram model claims she had an affair with the Maroon 5 frontman for over a year – we explain all the drama.
Adam Levine has spoken out about Instagram model Sumner Stroh's allegations that she and the singer had an affair for over a year and that he now wants to name his unborn child after her if it's a boy. According to "TMZ", he denied the affair but said he had shown "poor judgement" in communicating with the model.
This is the woman Adam Levine allegedly had an affair with
On 19 September, Instagram model Sumner Stroh posted a TikTok claiming she had an affair with Adam Levine that lasted over a year after he approached her on Instagram.
"At the time, I was young and naive," she says at the beginning of the video about her alleged relationship, "I mean, honestly, I feel taken advantage of. I wasn't entrenched in the industry like I am now, so I was definitely very easy to manipulate."
She also shared screenshots of conversations she allegedly had with Adam Levine on Instagram DMs – including the message in which he apparently asks her permission to name his unborn child with Behati Prinsloo after her.
"After I stopped seeing him for a few months, he came back into my life this way," she said, showing a screenshot of a message that appears to have been sent on 1 June, in which an account with Adam Levine's name writes: "Ok, serious question. I'm having another baby and if it's a boy I want to name him Sumner. Are you ok with that? DEAD serious."
She added that the reason she shared her story was because she wanted to beat the tabloids to the punch: "I wanted to keep it private," she said. "I never wanted to go public because of course I know the repercussions that come with doing what I do, making money like I do, and being an Instagram model – so when I go public with a story like that – I know the stereotypes."
She goes on to say that she "carelessly" sent screenshots of Adam Levine's alleged messages to some friends, one of whom tried to sell the story to a tabloid.
Adam Levine denies the affair, but admits to flirting
"I showed poor judgment when I flirted with someone other than my wife in any way," Adam Levine said on 20 September, according to TMZ: "I did not have an affair. Yet I crossed a line at a bad time in my life".
Adam Levine continued, "In certain instances it became inappropriate. I have addressed this and taken proactive steps to discuss this with my family. My wife and family are all I care about in this world. Being so naive and stupid to risk the only thing I really care about was the biggest mistake I could ever make. I will never make it again. I take full responsibility. We'll get through it and we'll get through it together."
The Maroon 5 frontman, 43, is currently expecting his third child with wife Behati Prinsloo, to whom he has been married for eight years. The couple, who met in 2012 and married in 2014, have two daughters: Dusty Rose, born in 2016, and Gio Grace, born in 2018.
